I still have not been able to locate my grandfather's town which as far as my mother knows is called Tomaspiel(?). Anyway I must go screen a documentary for the crew called "Hiding and Seeking". Two days after the newly single Ryan and the sapphic singer hung out at Lotus, they showed up together at O'Nieal's Grand Street for a party for Ryan's upcoming movie Kate and Leopold. After hanging with co-star Liev Schrieber and dozens of beer-guzzling crew members, Ryan and Etheridge shot over to Spa to meet up with Cabaret star Alan Cumming. Ryan and Etheridge "danced for three hours," says a spy, finishing up at Bungalow 8.

    Bar That Allows Dogs
    Von - 3 Bleeker Street
“A glass of Chateau Ramafort Bordeaux for you, a Milkbone for your dog – this is the good life as lived at Von. The rather civilized romantically lit wine-and beer- only bar doesn’t seem like the kind of place where a Laborador named Lou of a
Jack Russel Terrier named Chicken would be welcome to nuzzle the calves of strangers, but when owners Charles and Kaarin Von began bringing their Pitbull Happy to hang around, customers started asking if it was okay to bring their doggies in, too. Generally speaking, underaged canine customers stick to water, but one night a group of revelers encourages Happy to drink heartily from their beer glasses. Bartender Louis Benghiat reports: “I’ve never seem a hung over dog before.”

December 2000

  • December 28 gossip items:
It seems to be open season on the (mostly female) young things who make the scene at any event where publicity is assured. Now www.fashionwiredaily.com is running a cutting article labeled "Social Disease: Celebs Who Can't Stay Home." The piece is wonderfully dismissive of Carmen Electra, for one. What exactly does Electra do? "Not much other than appear at openings, awards ceremonies and other events, making love to the camera over and over," is its answer. The article includes an informal poll of New York and L.A. partygoers and publicists that suggests the most chronic social-disease sufferers on the current scene are Kim Cattrall, Tara Reid, Carson Daly, Liev Schreiber, Russell Simmons, Sylvia Miles (Sylvia! I thought they retired her to the Moochers' Hall of Fame decades ago), Chris Noth, Chloe Sevigny, Star Jones, Lisa Ling, Molly Simms, Courtney Love, Traci Bingham, Tori Spelling and Lara Flynn Boyle.
     and
Milla Jovovich and Liev Schreiber toasted Taye Diggs and nightclub impresario Karim Amatullah at their joint birthday party the other night at Amatullah's lounge Halo ...

  • The Liev Schreiber Site was named "link of the week" at www.movie-page.com.

  • Little action on the front as Liev is taking a well-deserved vacation. Eighteen solid months of working might make fans happy, but it sure makes for one tired actor.

May 1999

  • On May 25th "The Sunshine Boys" came out on video. Liev has a small part as tv commercial director Ricky Greg -- a very small part. But, he looks endearing in a backwards ball cap and an Ohio State tee shirt. The film stars Woody Allen, Peter Faulk, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

  • On May 19 Liev spent a couple of hours chatting with fans on The Liev Schrieber Site's first official live chat with Liev (the others have just been last minute). Chicago playwright John Logan's script--based on the Oscar-nominated documentary The Battle Over Citizen Kane--originally was going to be a Ridley Scott-directed theatrical film with Edward Norton as Welles, Marlon Brando as Hearst, Dustin Joffman as Mankiewicz, Madonna as Hearst's mistress Marion Davies and Meryl Streep as Hearst columnist Hedda hopper. The HBO version will cost about $10 million, one third as much as the theatrical would have.
